Helene Omansky, LCSW, is a senior social worker in the Mood Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She has worked with children, teens, and families navigating life transitions, stress, depression, medical illness, family dynamics, parenting, and other situational challenges. Omansky has also worked with pre-teens, teens, and young adults experiencing emotional dysregulation, suicidal ideation and engaging in self-injurious behaviors. She is formally trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy for children (DBT-C ). Omansky utilizes both forms of training in her work and is an active member of the DBT clinical team in the Mood Disorders Center. She’s also an expert in supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, as she is an active member of the LGBTQ Affirmative Therapists Guild of Utah.

Before joining the Child Mind Institute, Omansky worked as the imbedded therapist in the pediatrician’s office at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. There, she met with children and families confronting situational life stressors. She also had a tenure at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, where she supported patients and families throughout their medical journeys. These patients had a range of challenges, including neurological complications, liver transplants, developmental delays, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Omansky is passionate about helping individuals discover easily accessible tools from within to establish sustainable, healthy, and meaningful coping skills. She draws upon years of working with kids, teens, and families, borrowing from teachings in meditation and mindfulness in approaching stress with curiosity and kindness rather than dread and heaviness.
