Alexis Bancroft, PhD

Alexis Bancroft, PhD, is a former psychologist in the Autism Center at the Child Mind Institute. She is a nationally certified school psychologist and a leader in the field of early childhood development. Dr. Bancroft specializes in the psychological and neuropsychological evaluation of individuals with autism and co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders. She received her PhD in school psychology from Columbia University and completed an APA-accredited internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, NY. Dr. Bancroft also completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship program in pediatric psychology, with an emphasis in neurodevelopmental disorders, at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Bancroft has provided clinical services as a part of a multidisciplinary team in academic medicine as well as in schools, hospitals, day treatment, and outpatient centers. She has expertise in the early identification and evidence-based treatment of young children with autism and advanced training in the gold standard diagnostic measures for autism, including the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). Therapeutically, she is skilled in adapting cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to support emotional development in neurodivergent youth. Dr. Bancroft has presented research on autism, language development, and behavior at regional and national conferences.
